DD vs CSK IPL 2018 match 52 preview: Delhi aim to dare dominant Chennai in dead rubber

Delhi Daredevils (DD) aim to dare dominant Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match 52 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Friday. It’s a dead rubber as CSK are already through to the playoffs and DD are out of the tournament, and the result of this match won’t affect the race for the playoffs.
However, Chennai would look to earn those crucial two points to seal their top-two finish. On the other hand, Delhi would be hoping to win hearts of their fans with a win over Super Kings in their penultimate match of the season.
But that looks highly unlikely as Delhi come into this match with a three-match losing streak, the last one being a five-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore. On the other hand, Chennai trumped Table Toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets, riding on a maiden IPL ton from Ambati Rayudu, in their previous outing.
Match Details:
Timing – 8 pm
Venue – Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium
Where to watch – Star Sports 1 and Star Sports HD
Head to head
Chennai have a firm hold on Delhi with a 12-5 win-loss record.
Team News
Young batsman Abhishek Sharma and Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane made their IPL debut in the last match against RCB and impressed one and all with their impressive skills. They are expected to keep their place in the DD playing XI. CSK might look to drop David Willey as he has been quite expensive in the last few matches.
Prediction: Who will win?
Leadership, experience, consistency, impact players and form - all are in Chennai’s favour. And the Super Kings are expected to reign supreme over the Daredevils.
Betting odds
According to oddschecker.com, the odds are placed at 39/29 for Delhi and 13/19 for Chennai.
Dream 11
Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Abhishek Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Sandeep Lamichhane, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar
Players to watch out for
Ambati Rayudu (CSK) – It has been a phenomenal season for him as he has performed the role of opener brilliantly for the Super Kings. Always amongst the runs, expect Rayudu to fire again.
Rishabh Pant (DD) – He has had a breakout season and all eyes would again be on Pant, who will spearhead Delhi’s batting. He has hogged the limelight in almost every match with his power hitting.
Points table
With just three wins from 12 games so far, Delhi have the wooden spoon with 6 points. On the other hand, Chennai sit comfortably on the second spot with 16 points from 12 matches. A win here would seal a top-two finish for them.
